ACADEMIC
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MASTER OF SCIENCE IN ELECTRICAL
ENGINEERING (MSEE)
In addition to all university requirements for a Master
of Science degree, the MSEE degree has the following
requirements:
1.
A minimum of 32 credit hours of graduate level coursework
including:
- 4
(or more) courses within a Major Area, chosen from
among the Areas of Concentration
- 1
(or more) course(s) in each of two Minor Areas, chosen
from among the Areas outside the major
- 1
advanced mathematics course unless included in the
BS degree
- Additional
coursework, generally ECE department courses approved
by the academic advisor*
- The
Program is subject to the following restrictions:
- a minimum of 20 credit hours of coursework at the
500 level or higher;
- no more than 6 credit hours of intersession short
courses;
- from 6-8 credit hours of research work (ECE 591)
leading to a MS dissertation may be included with
the approval of a thesis advisor;
- a maximum of 2 credits of Masters Seminar
(ECE 595,596).
2.
A GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 (excluding prerequisites and
proficiencies).
Each regular (matriculated) graduate student is assigned
an academic advisor indicated in the formal letter of
admission to the masters program.
