ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MASTER OF ELECTRICAL AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING (MECE)

In addition to all university requirements for a Professional Master’s degree, the MECE degree has the following requirements:

1. A Program of study with a minimum of 30 credit hours of graduate level coursework, meeting the following restrictions:

  • a minimum of 24 credit hours of ECE coursework:
  • a minimum of 18 credit hours of coursework at the 500-level or higher:
  • a maximum of 6 credit hours of intersession short courses;
  • a maximum of 2 credits of Master’s Seminar (ECE 595,596);
  • additional coursework, generally ECE department courses, approved by the academic advisor*.

2. A GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 (excluding prerequisites and proficiencies).

Each regular (matriculated) graduate student is assigned an academic advisor indicated in the formal letter of admission to the master’s program.

Students should consult with their academic advisor* to file a Program of Study meeting these requirements prior to 4 months after initial registration for full-time students and prior to enrolling beyond 12 credits for part-time students.
