of switching and protection devices that play an integral
part in delivering electric power in the most efficient
and reliable manner.

devices (i) minimize damage to circuits and equipment
in the event of a short-circuit, (ii) make practical
the extensive segmentation of circuits to minimize
the number of power users affected by any outage,
and (iii) reroute power flow for fast restoration
of service.

Criteria
- Applicants
must be enrolled at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
- Applicant
must be enrolled as a full-time sophomore or junior
in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.
- Applicant
should be available for employment as a co-op student
or summer engineering intern at S&C Electric Company,
in Chicago, Illinois.
- Applicant
must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better.
- Applicant
must be a US citizen or US permanent resident.
- Applicant
should have demonstrated scholastic and leadership
strengths as well as an interest in the electric power
device industry.
Award
- $10,000
- Renewable
for 3 years (e.g., sophomore, junior, and senior year)
